Aisha. poetry in pottery
Aisha Céramique is an artisan brand created in Paris by ceramicist Arina Sherstiuk.
The artist takes inspiration from observing natural forms, the relief of rocks, coastal hills, the structure of sea sand and tree stumps.
In Aisha's collection, each artistic creation is unique and valued. The concept behind Aisha's ceramics reflects a chaotic approach, curiosity, and circumstance. Intuition, meditation, and the relationship between the moon and the sun come together in the creation of Aisha's ceramics.
A particular aspect of her influence comes from Japanese culture. The ceramics are modelled according to the Japanese kurinuki technique, which follows the concept of wabi-sabi, the aesthetics of imperfection. Her ceramics have a rough character, heightened tactility, curved shapes and a particular attention to detail, which is a response to the uncorrected and untouched state of nature.
Arina Sherstiuk's journey into ceramics started in 2021 in Kaliningrad, Russia's westernmost city on the shores of the Baltic Sea.
It was an experiment with colour and form, working in two local studios, exploring her artistic intuition and developing her own style.
In 2023, the artist completed an internship at a Japanese ceramics workshop in Paris.
Since 2024, the artist has been creating his Parisian series in his studio in Montmartre.
